Glenn
Marshall Rambo
RIP Katrina 2005
![]() |
| According
to a posting at NolaUnderground.com, former SOILENT GREEN vocalist Glenn
Rambo was found dead his mother's home Saturday afternoon (Oct. 1). "His
ex-girlfriend Stacy and some National Guardsmen went to Glenn's mom's
house on Guerra Drive in Violet Louisiana [on Saturday] because Stacy
had not heard from Glenn since before [Hurricane Katrina]," a friend
of Glenn's by the name of Melissa writes in the posting. "They discovered
the bodies of Glenn and his mom still in the house. Glenn had a broken
leg, and he and his mom had no car to evacuate. If you know them you probably
know that his family didn't have much money. I'm not sure where they are
going to bury them, or if there are any next-of-kin that could help. Maybe
we can all take up a collection to make sure that they are buried properly
and have grave markers. I don't even know how to go about doing something
like that. It just makes me sad to think that after we have all lost so
much, we are now finding out that we have lost good friends as well. Glenn
was an important part of the [New Orleans] music scene, and a good friend
to many of us. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered."
"A good friend to most of us that
post here on NolaUnderground was found dead in his Mother's home yesterday

to Glenn's Mom's house on Guerra Drive in Violet Louisiana yesterday
because Stacy had not heard from Glenn since before the huricane. They
discovered the bodies of Glenn & his Mom still in the house.
Glenn Rambo! My brother in spirit. Glenn
was one of the nicest people you could ever meet! I remember when me
and him were in Soilent Green together, and we used to get rides to
the shows, he would make sure he talked to every single person around
after the show! It would literally take him hours to finsh because he
really appreciated people being into his band. Our ride to the show
that week, wouldn't be our ride the next week, becuse they would be
in there cars snoring by the time he was ready to leave. It didn't matter
if he knew you or not, he would give you his full attention. He was
really that cool of a person! Before I even knew Glenn I used to see
him around in stores, and he used to salute me every time he seen me.
He was also one of the most honest people you could meet. He got busted
with some stuff one time, and served his time like a true person would.
I think he served almost 2 years. When we started jammin together in
Soilent Green that was some of the craziest times of my life. Glenn
used to come to my house at 6a.m.,and wait for my grandmaw to leave
for work, so we could jam. That's how the band Nun Molesters got started.
The members of that band were Brian Patton, Mickey Jeanfrau, Joey, I'm
not going to put Joey's last name because I know he dosen't want to
be connected to the band name,( which I can't blame him) Kevin Lemoine,
Johnny Vanderhoff, Glenn Rambo, and myself.Another band Glenn had was
called GM Pussy Bitch, it was him, Steve Gorgues, and Sean Brizniack. The
last band Glenn was in was called Swarm, it was me , Glenn, Page Vernon,
Jessica Guillory, and Erik Renz, there maybe videotapes of this floating
around Page may have a copy if any of you know him. One of the best
memories I have of Glenn is Me and him spending the week in Hammond
with Mellisa and Jennifer Ledet. I don't think we wore clothes that
whole week, we went around with covers wrapped around us, and when we
would go to the store Glenn would put on this bathrobe, and flash all
the pretty women! It was halarious! Fun! I am really lucky to have known
Glenn. I want people to know he had friends, and family offer him rides
to evacuate. I know his cousin Gary tried to get him to leave, and Mickey
Jeanfrau tried to get him to leave. He didn't want to leave his pets
behind.Pure Heart!
To me Glenn was like a wise elder to
my generation, a complete love promoter, who if you knew him would at
a modest level make you think about your reason for living. With a great
respect and honest toughness apply you with the love you needed regardless
of what you thought you needed. The truth came through in his shown
respect for people, a light in the universe that belonged to you when
it reflected onto you. I will dearly miss him for his part in my life
and wish he could have been around to administer in his way the love
he knew you needed in his marvelous way of shining light to those who
sought him out regardless of social stratification. Rest in Peace friend,
I know you shine through the everyday life, that everyone who knew you
saw, and I intend to absorb all I can.
He was my bubba. He tought me everything. He was my best friend, and I dont know how im going to go on without him. he was my support he loved me and our little family he died because he didn't want to leave our pets our ferretts gumbo, nibbles, spookey (his black metal baby as he used to call her) natasha and cinnamon, our 2 cats mimi and lou lou, and our pit bull dog chubacha they were our kids, and i loved him more than anything in this world. he and i were 1/2 of each other he would tell me everyday how he loved me and our "babies" and that real loves is eternal like a figure 8 and that nomatter what ever happened we would always be togeather forever because true love was eternal... He loved donavan punch, and mike borrel like his brothers and josh bergeron, steve geougours, toby laba, tony white and jimmy bowwer and mike williams all the guy from Eye Hate God, and Godflesh. Glenn loved so much he was so special people just wanted to be around him. the way he loved animals and music was spiritual. if anyone has any memories ie. pictures music or anything. Glenn
"Ozzy" Rambo was one of the most righteous dudes out there!
I met Glenn at one of many shows at the V.F.W. Hall on Franklin Avenue
"back in the day". He was always "crazy Ozzy" until
I ya got to know him. Crazy cuz the guy looked EXACTLY like Charles
Manson. I got to know Glenn much better after Serlent Green's first
show with Exhorder & Substance Abuse at Storyville Jazz Hall (Margaritaville
now for those not in 'tha know') and at the numerous shows at the various
Lions' Clubs around Metry. Glenn always had this jambox with him he
used to make crude audio recordings of everyone's shows. You could ALWAYS
count on Glenn to be at your show taping! In fact, I think my first
band's (The Detrimentz) first release had a live track on it that Glenn
had taped at the Lion's Club on that jambox, "Endless Time".
He probably has countless undigitized hours of live KILLA somewhere
or another. One other thing I must say is that dude NEVER said anything
bad about anyone or any bands and he would be one of the first people
to stick up for anyone he knew regardless of the situation. R.I.P. "OZZY"!!! |
